Life in the Fast Lane 6/6

The Doctor took them to a place called Alfava Metraxis, which, apparently had a cave full of Weeping Angels and all Jedda had to do was walk in.

“There’s one problem” The Doctor says “River and I have been here before, so we can’t be here. We can’t leave the TARDIS - you’ll have to go alone”

“That’s okay” Jedda says “Thank you for all your help, and thank you for accidentally breaking into my apartment and taking me to the Moulin Rouge it was fantastic and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”

“The pleasure was mine, Jedda Yotha” the Doctor says pulling Jedda into a hug.

“And River” Jedda says “It was lovely to meet you for all of ten minutes, but I’m sure you’re amazing. After all, you risked your life to save two people you barely knew.”

River smiles “Everybody matters, but companions of The Doctor are extra special.”

“Kurt - never change sweetheart. Stay sassy gorgeous” Jedda says.

“I’ll honour you the best I can” is Kurt’s reply as the two also share a hug.

“And Blaine I-still-have-faith-in-humanity Anderson. You never underestimate Lady Houdini” she says, winking “I’ll be back for you, you see” Blaine pulls her in for her third, and final hug “I’ll miss you the most” she whispers in his ear “Thank you for believing me.”

“Always” is all Blaine can say “I’ll never forget you.”

Jedda smiles sadly “We can’t ever forget what we learned here today, hopefully through you Earth can learn from Yumina’s mistakes”

“I’ll try” Blaine promises and Jedda head towards the door.

“Try to stay away from past us please” The Doctor calls “We’d like to survive to see today thanks!”

Jedda simply salutes “Goodbye!” she calls behind her as she uses her telekinesis to shut the TARDIS door.

“I knew I knew her from somewhere” River says “I bumped into her right before she went. I thought she was stark raving mad - turns out I was right.”

“I’m really going to miss her” Kurt says.

“Me too” Blaine agrees.

“So where to now, Blaine Anderson, Kurt Hummel and River Song - boy that is a mouthful. I don’t think I’ve ever had to say that many full names in one go before, imagine if Jedda was still here!” The Doctor says attempting to provide a distraction.

“Home” Blaine says.

“Already?” The Doctors says sounding a little disappointed.

Blaine looks at Kurt “I think so, Kurt has a Show choir National Championship to win and me, well I’ve somebody I really need to call.”

Kurt smiles “That’s true, I completely forgot about Nationals. There’s a team back home that needs me!”

“Fair enough” The Doctor says “Home it is, I hope you enjoy the rest of your birthday Blaine Anderson!”

Blaine takes Kurt’s hand “Oh, I will.”

“Good choice” River says “I’m sure fantastic things are waiting for you back home boys”

“Do I get to come next year?” Kurt asks and The Doctor just looks to Blaine.

“Of course!” Blaine says “We’re keeping you, Kurt Hummel, remember?”

“Alright” River says “We’re here!”

“Really?” Kurt asks “It didn’t make that noise thingy”

“Yeah” The Doctor says “She flies it wrong”

“I do not!”

“Bye!” Blaine calls, pulling Kurt along with him “Until next year!”

“Happy birthday Blaine” says River.

“See you next year!” Is all The Doctor says.

Kurt and Blaine walk hand in hand back into Blaine’s house, it’s still midday and Blaine still has half of his birthday left. Kurt and Blaine spend the rest of the day together, they make a new fruit platter to share and Kurt teaches Blaine how to make frappes. Kurt helps Blaine open the presents that Blaine’s parents left him, they mostly spend the day cuddling and kissing on Blaine’s couch curled up watching trashy reality TV until Kurt gets called home for dinner. All in all not a terrible birthday really. Later that night Blaine get’s a call from his Brother, and Blaine figures he should give Cooper a little more credit. He calls at least.

Even though Blaine ran away a year ago he still came home, but he’s never completely stopped running. It’s easy to pretend all the battles you’ve fought, all the scars you’ve earned, all the wrong that was done to you and in turn all the wrong you did haven’t happened when you have distractions like a new life, a lovely boyfriend and a fantastic, crazy friend with a time machine. But there are people who don’t have this, there are people who don’t get to run away so literally from their demons nobody to whisk them away to beautiful alien planets and wondrous historical events. Some don’t get access to the fast lane - The Doctor can’t be everywhere.

So, after nearly being executed and spending two weeks in a disgusting Yuminan cell, being held prisoner Blaine Anderson decides to stop running and face his past so that his future may catch up.

He waits nervously as the phone rings, terrified of hearing the dial tone as soon as he speaks.

Blaine is ready to be forgiven.

“Oliver? Hello, it’s Blaine...”
