It was a dreary Saturday afternoon, the rain was heavy and the weather was cold. There had been no alien activity over the last few weeks so inside the Tennyson household, the gang was crowded in the living room. Ben and Kevin were playing video games as Gwen and Julie watched.

“Oh come on Kevin, let me actually get a mallet,” Ben complained as once again Pit was sent flying into the background of the level.

Kevin just smirked at him as Marth grabbed another mallet and sent Ben's character flying once again,
“It's the idea of the game Tennyson,” he responded as Ben once again groaned.

The problem was, whenever those two started playing video games, they would be there for hours and since they were both so competitive...well let's just say it could be rather amusing to watch.

This time they were playing Super Smash Bros Brawl and had decided to play it where the only items they could get were mallets which meant, it was a pretty easy battle for whoever got to the mallets first.

Gwen sighed as she watched the pair argue over the game, it could be rather boring just sitting and watching people play video games and she knew Julie felt the same way. The only reason they both agreed to come was to watch the boys actions.

You see, not too long ago the two girls had noticed that their respective boyfriend's weren't as interested in them as perhaps they should be, they seemed to like each other more if she was honest but if you said anything about it they would just laugh or deny it vehemently.

Finally the game ended, now it was time for things to get more...interesting.

The brunet pulled the safety strap off of his wrist and dropped the controller to the floor before he stood up.
“Seriously Kevin, I swear you must be cheating somehow,” he commented off-handedly. It was a half-joke but the aforementioned boy just smirked in response,
“Now, now Benji, just because you can't win against me.”

Ben snorted as the two boys wandered into the kitchen.

Playful banter between former enemies who would probably be classed as the best of friends by now.

Julie leaned in closer to Gwen,
“What do you think would happen if we weren't here?” she asked in a hushed tone, the red headed girl just grinned slightly,
“I don't think it would be positions in video games.”

The two girls squealed at the thought.

In the Tennyson kitchen, Kevin headed straight for the fridge. He pretty much took what he wanted and made himself comfortable whenever he came over now. He had been a regular guest over the last few weeks and he'd already known his way around from the times he'd snuck in before that. Sandra and Carl weren't even surprised when he just walked in now.

“Don't you think we're ignoring the girl's a bit too much...they might get suspicious,” Ben muttered as he pulled a few slices of bread out of the bread bin to make himself a sandwich, he'd just been about to take a bite when he felt a pair of strong arms wrap around him.
“Nah, I doubt they've noticed anything anyway,” Kevin replied as Ben rested his head back against the black shirted chest as he looked up at his 'boyfriend' and smiled up at him.
“I wouldn't under estimate them y'know, now let me get back to my sandwich.”

The older male released Ben from his grip before he shut the fridge and dived into the freezer, pulling out a packet of microwave pizzas and stuck one in the microwave.

About ten minutes later the food was ready and they returned to the living room with their food to Gwen and Julie staring at them expectantly,
“Well where's our food?” Gwen asked, raising an eyebrow at Kevin who just shrugged in response,
“You didn't ask for anything.”

Gwen rolled her eyes,
“Honestly, all you ever seem to think about is food and your car,” she groaned as Julie shook her head.
“What were you doing in there that took so long if you weren't getting us anything anyway?” the Asian girl asked.

The two boys were silent for a moment or two,
“We were just getting our food...nothing else,” Kevin's voice rose an octave or two and he cleared his throat, Gwen eyed him suspiciously as Ben started laughing.
“Kevin couldn't work the microwave that's what took us so long, he was just too embarrassed to admit it,” he teased.

A spur of the moment lie but it was all he could think of at that exact moment.

The anodite just sighed, she knew that was a stupid reason but she accepted it for the moment. She and Julie could discuss it later.

Said black haired female checked her watch then and stood up,
“I have to get going now, my mum's taking me shopping...see you boy's later,” she explained and Gwen quickly followed after her,
“I might as well go as well, we were getting bored anyway.”

As the boys watched the two girl's leave they shrugged and Ben turned to Kevin with a grin.
“I think we have them fooled.”

The girls on the other hand were walking up the road laughing,
“Kevin couldn't work the microwave...he's always over there! It's not like we were accusing them off making out in there,” Gwen commented with another giggle.

Julie nodded in agreement,
“Yeah, didn't you see Ben's eye twitch when he said it...honestly, they must think we're stupid.”

A double sigh.

“What are we gonna do with them?”

There was silence for a few moments as the duo stared up at the sky as the rain slowed down slightly and the sun started to peek out from behind the clouds.

Rainbow weather.

“I guess all we can do is encourage them, they're hardly doing us a favor by staying with us,” Julie mumbled and Gwen made a 'hmmm' noise in agreement.

As they reached Julie's house, the anodite grinned at the Asian,
“I guess we just have to plan to get them together then.”

With that idea firmly planted in their mind they parted ways.

If only they knew.

FIN

Hope that was what you wanted Tonny.

The mallets only on Brawl was something me and my sister did once and I kept getting the mallets before her and she accused me of cheating.
