I heard about it earlier today and all they know about the death so far was that it was from complication of surgery. What kind of surgery, we don't know yet. I'm wondering how this will effect the show since we're getting another season. Although they usually write the scripts several episodes ahead of time, I'm wondering what it'll do to the show if, down the line they fall off the main plot or something.
Probably the other writers will pick up on where he would have left off - despite the fact that it sometimes seems that they never, ever discuss anything with each other, the writers of the show much have kept in touch and spoke about the future of the show, hashing out vague ideas.
Dammit! I leave this comm for TWO WEEKS and bad stuff happens! *sigh* between this and tonights glee I'm going to hibernate under my desk for two weeks sobbing. BRB!
I'm still pretty stunned...kind of sad that he's dead, if only in the way that one human feels sadness for the death of another human. But mostly, yeah, I am wondering about the fate of Ben 10. I kind of wonder if it'll be cancelled after a certain point...or if, in Dwayne's memory, they'll go gung-ho and rip out some awesome stuff.
Okay, mostly, actually, I'm completely weirded out by the whole thing. :/
The major reason I'm sad is because I keep having this thought" "This is the guy who's responsible for Static Shock, that show I watched and loved." I have no idea why I focus on SS the most when he worked on better known projects, but there you go.
Then, to prove I'm a horrible human being, I think "Well that solves the Gwevin problem."
I doubt they'll cancel it. I mean, I don't think they would; it's pretty well received, right? And it's kind of weird to type this, but DM probably wouldn't want it to end just because he died.
I wouldn't be surprised if they dedicated an episode or new character to his memory, though, like they did for the VA Mako on Avatar.
You aren't the only person who thought that; I'm hoping this actually solves the "Gwevin problem". I know he was a an excellent writer for "Static" & the "Justice League" cartons but he wasn't the right person for "Ben 10." Yes I'm also a horrible Human Being for thinking & saying that about him.

I think he was a fine enough writer for Ben 10 - he just should have been kept away from the relationship crap.
