I got a new phone yesterday. I was planning on picking up the current gen razor, the best LG that AT&T offers, or the nokia. I drove down to the AT&T shop on Broadway, as that store treats me like an adult. I walk in they ask for help and if I say I'm just browsing, they let me browse. Later once I look bored somebody will drop by and ask if I have any questions. Then I'll either announce what I want to get the questions I need asked. And when they answer questions, they don't push any hard sell information. Basically it's the perfect technology store for me, except this time they baited a trap just for me. Yesterday they had two huge iPhone kiosks where I was allowed to play around with this exceptional piece of technology. And well I succumbed. It was just too useful of a gadget. I've been dying to have a larger sized iPod for a while now. I have a first gen (1GB) shuffle that I use at the gym and nothing else. Long car rides with
eboz still involve a lot of CDs for us. I've been dying to have a phone with better websurfing capabilities. The iPhone provides this, and in fact is better than I had imagined. It also provides a quick link to google maps. I'm about to go on a cross country drive with
chinook_wind so that would be a very handy feature. Finally the most appealing part of the phone was that it comes with a nice base to plug it into for recharging and synching with my home computer. So when I need to put my phone away, it's not laying strewn across the table with some ugly umbilical cord. You know, it looks more like a phone because it has someplace to go to when it's not in my pocket. This is the #1 feature I've wanted in a phone since I got my first cell phone in 2000. So I broke down and got the iPhone. I rather like it.
And today I learned that they finally released the perfect collection of
Twin Peaks. Both seasons, the European pilot, and a ton of extras. I'll hold off for Christmas for that, but good heavens, the universe is giving me every material desire I have.
(I got my emotional desires last year. :) )
