Back to running, again, and remembering why

I've held off running while The Stupid Cough(tm) was lingering.

Today I walked, and ran veeeeeeerrrrry sloooooowly, round the park at lunchtime.

My mom taught me the ten minute trick for piano practicing... even though I really like to play, it's so hard to get started. I got through university by setting a timer for 10 minutes, then allowing myself to stop if I wanted to (I rarely did).

Also works great for writing papers. I lived by the timer in grad school. Currently I use the ten minute timer for cleanup with the kids.

I have read a bit about "nature deficit disorder". It sounds a bit hokey to me, but there is no denying that getting out someplace with natural sun (or even rain) and some greenery can pick up moods in no time flat.
