The Big Post of Most Everything

May 07, 2022 15:20

Fic is arranged by fandom, series and when posted, more or less. If I posted it way back, it's alphabetical within categories. Let's just agree to pretend there's a system, okay? That which I would most like to represent myself by is starred.

You are an astonishing writer. I've read all of your stories now, some of them several times, and simply cannot express how elegant your writing is. Your spot-on characterization, creative plots, everything -- flawless. I can only imagine the amount of work you put in, but your words come across as effortless. I came for the DW and stayed for everything else. Even the SH stuff -- and I'm not a big John/Sherlock shipper -- love. "Evidently Deviltown" -- mesmerizing. (OMG MOAR PLEASE.)

I feel like I'm being goofy and gushing, but your work is just that haunting. So thanks for what you're doing, it is so greatly appreciated.

It's not very often that a comment like this comes along, so I hope you don't mind that I took a while to respond to it. I'm doing the mental equivalent of a little boy foot scuffle, the one that's shy and a bit awkward, but in a good way, where you keep peeking out from under the brim of that baseball cap. I don't think of it so much as work as an excessive amount of playtime I keep indulging myself with, and I will never stop being elated at how well the results of my mental ramblings are received.

More concisely put: thank you.

As a general sort of forecast, I'm continuing to prod Deviltown along, but the John/Sherlock is also continuing at full steam, if not accelerating. I've got a monster in the works. The priority is very much there, but I hope you'll like it regardless of the pairing.

First of all, you definitely have the mad crazy writing skillz. I adore you for the fact that you made Rose Tyler into River Song before River Song was a glimmer in Moffat's eye. In my head, "Non-Linear Love Story" is straight-up canon. And I know I'm not the only one who will be thrilled with your next post, whether it's DW or SH or whatever else is tickling your neurons.

Second of all, in the last "Deviltown," Ten -- ahem, Freckles -- has facial hair. He has strokable facial hair, and he looks like THIS, and I don't even. I didn't know this was a Thing for me -- Ten and pettable facial hair. Oh. My. Bejeesus. Rose and Freckles and his pettable facial hair at uni. Sweet, sweet bejeesus. I HAVE PALPITATIONS.

And my first attempt at making a hyperlink in a comment box ... FAIL. Ah well.

Sorry to say it, but it's looking like IHH is going to remain unfinished. It was put on the backburner due to other matters at the time and I just can't quite get back into the headspace I was in while I was writing it anymore.

Nowadays, though, I no longer post without having the entire work already complete. The delays between updates are now fully about the editing, not the writing, so that's the last WIP you'll see unfinished from me.

I was able - once - to get back to finish a story after many years. I've also found it impossible to do so. Like everyone else, I have fallen in love with your wonderful protagonist. I want him to be happy and would be ecstatic to read him so at last (though I do wonder if the Doctor ever could be happy and still be the Doctor)

I've heard so many people say that IHH will be THE great DW fanfic, that it's a DW masterpiece WIP. I believe that IHH is masterpiece of fiction. Whatever happens (or not), thank you for what you have given us.

"THE great DW fanfic."

Yes, that's it exactly. It's been years since an update and I still think about the story on a regular basis. Masterpiece, indeed. I have literally printed off sections of it to study your writing. Certain influences are evident in my own "Human Nature" based fic.

I know it's been ages, and quite some time even since the above comments were made. I still hold out hope that you'll return to it some day, but if not, I'm still glad that you got as far as you did.

So people have said it before, but I'm going to say it again, because when something's true it should be said multiple times (with the number of times it's being said relating directly to how true the statement is). I love your style--you've got great characterization going on. All of your stories that I've read are amazing! Props to you.

In Human Hands is my favorite, and I have to ask, are you going to finish it? I've been following it on Teaspoon, and I'm seriously hooked. The way you've captured Rose and the Doctor is just beautiful, and the level of craftsmanship in each chapter is breathtaking. I seriously sat for about three hours and read all 23 chapters through. I couldn't stop. I was that enthralled.
