Oh that was delightful! I have a lovely, happy smile on my face now. I’m really pleased you’ve written in this fandom.

“Tell me what you know of fighting.”
“Don’t get stabbed,” Bilbo answers. “Or hit or bitten or bludgeoned.”
“Do you have any idea how to go about this?”
“Not a single one,” Bilbo admits.

That was pure Tolkien; it was just like reading the book.

”A dwarven king in his armour and furs, offering to teach a hobbit to swordfight with a fork: the image strikes Bilbo in his heart with a giddy, giggling blow.”

Oh me, too, but he’s been given extremely valuable advice - which hopefully he’ll take and live to be very ancient . . .

(Oops, I realise I don't have a Hobbit icon!)

Tolkien is pretty hard to write because his dialog is stylized and unnatural -- that said, you hit it perfectly on Thorin's final line. Thank you for writing this.

Thanks! Getting the voices down for both characters and narrative has been very interesting, as both Thorin and Bilbo sound considerably different in the movie and Tolkien is incredibly distinct.
