Thank you! I've been assuming that Vernet is Sherlock -- I wonder if he might be a third Holmes brother? It would make the mystery more fraught as the evidence against Vernet piles up. I wonder if John will be delighted or if he'll be angry when Sherlock's deception is revealed. At any rate, this was very enjoyable, thank you.

I'm very excited to have such a long new story to look forward to! This first chapter provides a beautiful set-up, with John becoming Sherlock's muse in a typically pragmatic manner -- he lets Sherlock turn him inside out and drudge up his trauma and then sits back and appreciates the beautiful honesty of it, he sees the art. It's really a lovely alternate form of what John always does in response to Sherlock's deductions, which is to be liberated rather than repulsed by the invasive accuracy. And I can see how Sherlock, entranced as he always is by his work, might begin also to be entranced by its subject. We'll see how it goes! Also, I just love the sack-over-the-head first meeting, what can I say, the image makes me happy. As does the fact that what John gets from this is not simply that Sherlock is ridiculous, but that he has nerves of steel to sit there blind and offer his hand. Neat. Also, I was amused that Sherlock, in falsifying his voice, actually matches it to the canonical ACD description of Holmes' voice as being
