Does anyone have an explanation for why headphone cords become incredibly tangled/ full of knots after you take (your pair) out of a bag (carrying it somewhere, for instance)?

I mean, the cord had no knots in it prior to entering the bag, and no one would purposely tangle the cord either...

any type of cord is the bane of my existance. their astonishing ability to always, always get tangled causes me endless amounts of grief.
