Well, this is rather disconcerting. After a three-month diet of pure Netflix, broadcast TV doesn't interest me at all.
Having grown up in a rural area, television was my escape and my vision of things being different than the small-minded community of farmers who thought Hank Williams was the ultimate poet and tractor pulls were entertainment worth paying for. Different here equals better. To say I didn't fit in would be a bit of an understatement. Like the "Saudi Arabia has a bit of oil" kind of understatement.
My mother still has the television on CONSTANTLY, almost every minute she is awake and in the house. Drives me crazy. Well, I turned on the TV today and watch something quickly while I was eating dinner. No go. It all seemed insipid and far too commercial. After flipping through the channels once, I turned it off.
Netflix as methadone, hmmm. Perhaps this is the start of my much harbingered divorce from the One-Eyed Monster in the Corner.
