Well, this was a completely wasted evening. One of the guys from the dojo wanted to do dinner tonight and I accepted, knowing that he understood we were just friends. We've known each other on and off for about three years, but never outside of class. I've always liked him and we laugh a lot during class.
Except maybe after tonight. Un-be-lievable. About 3/4 of the way through dinner, out of the blue he told me about this dating philosophy called "negging."
Check this out.
Say you want to date a really hot girl. She is used to people telling her she's pretty. So you don't do so. In fact, you do the opposite! Yes, you try to bring down her self-confidence and perhaps embarrass her some while at the same time talking about how many things you have going on, how many friends, etc. This increases your "social value" while simultaneously lowering hers. The ultimate goal, of course, is to get her attention and get her to pursue you because your social value is higher.
Oh yes, we women are so dumb that if a guy acts differently than other guys, we are irresistibly drawn to him. We just ain't bright enough to figure it out without coming in for a reeeal intimate look.
I am *completely* appalled. On top of being borderline evil, this strategy is ragingly stupid. A woman will go out with someone who brings down her self-confidence and who is LYING about his social adeptness?? Guys, this is something you can't hide. As soon as she hears a word of your using this "strategy" she will forcibly remove your testicles and mount them on a nice bolo tie for you to wear.
Keep in mind he's probably in his early 40s. He actually asked me, "Don't you think that would work?" I deadpanned, "Well, I've never been a really hot girl, so I don't really know. And I guess my strategy of being nice and being myself is passe."
I can't believe guys like this actually exist. Well, I can, but that I know one and actually liked him?? Pig!
I'm home having some tea now and thanking Goddess that I can walk far, far away from this insanity. At least the food was good.
