Tis time. Tis time. I've been putting off my year in review post, but now, as I sit in my empty apartment, trying desperately to find something to, I will succomb to updating the LJ

If you're in Memphis, I think you should go see Corpus Christi. I know that there are parts of it that you might have a knee-jerk reaction to, but I still think you'd get something out of it. Hell, you might even have a knee-jerk reaction to the whole thing. I realize that the idea of a homosexual Jesus and a less-than-perfect Mary and Joseph and a less-than-ideal childhood for Joshua (read: Jesus) can be perceived as a bit extreme. I and my friends (including devout atheists and Wiccans) were bawling and sobbing ridiculously by the end of the play. For somehing semi-religious to move me that much takes a lot. It's very effective in its explanation of Jesus' love for all.
Hey kid- Have you read Adventures in Missing the Point? It's the next on my list. I got to hear our dear friend Tony Campolo speak in November and it was really impressive. I would love to hear what you think of him and the other books on your list. Peace and Joy.
I've got two chapters left in it actually. its really freakin good.
have you read the new kind of christian trilogy? you should, because its awesome. I'm also in the middle of "more ready than you realize"
campolo is amazing. i need to get some leonard sweet stuff. I've been reading lot of teh emergent guys blogs too. I'm really just listening to the conversation a little more than i am in it... but I've got my own "emergent" blog
Hey, Yeah I am going to read the trilogy and let it be apart of my Spiritual formation class, which my prof said i could do. So thats exciting.
I walked out of hearing Campolo speak and had to take a minute to process it all. He made a couple of people made in the room, but it was really good to hear his point of view on all of it.
Oh read Velvet Elvis by Rob Bell. You may have seen some of his NOOMA videos at LU. I just started that two days ago and I have read it every chance I could.
I have talked to a some people about the Emergent Church. I dont really know too much about what really defines it as different, but there is a lot of stuff out there on it. So what I have gathered is that its just a way of thinking.
