It snowed today. Vicki's mom has some kind of weird to-do about having all our outdoor hoses running a trickle of water or else the pipes will freeze up and EVERYONE WILL DIE. Never mind that our house is fairly new, and that we never ever did this back in VT where it got much colder and I was living in a house probably at least twenty years older

Yeah, I don't know what it is with you and vt. I see it, but it kinda reminds me of all the Utah "I miss my MOUNTAINS" crap. Sorry you feel bad, though. mom

I think we all get homesick sometime and you have had a lot of changes in the last few months. What you said about VT made total sense to me. While I rarely - if ever- miss Canada where my family and childhood friends are, I miss OR like an open-wound some days. It just fit me so well. The people, the landscape, everything.

Homesickness passes quickest for me when I'm busy. Perhaps you could throw yourself into a necessary project of holiday preparations.

P.S. All the OR "snow day" to-do about four inches cracks me up. We get over fifteen feet of snow so a few inches goes unnoticed too.
