So I am back in GA now...the drive was fine, though we discovered that Missouri is the roadkill capital of the world. We saw a dead animal every few hundred yards, it was pretty disgusting. Lots of deer, squirrels, armadillos (which didn't squish, which was kinda refreshing), and dogs. Yeah, that was mostly what I observed on the trip...we went to lunch at Chili's in Mt. Vernon, IL and they had smoking/non-smoking sections...haven't heard that in a long time. Kentucky and Tennessee just felt redneck...like, that was the only vibe I got from them at all. I didn't get carsick until we got to GA and then it was sort of bad...we stopped for Starbucks and I got a venti and then the rest of the 3 hours to Athens I just kept on ranting about how Ted Hughes sucked and killed Sylvia Plath (the far better poet) and how Auden really isn't that great, and how Donne was brilliant but really weird. Then we hung out with family a lot so my dad could visit everyone, plus I had to learn how to get everywhere on my own! Then a driving lesson with my uncle which made everything WAY better because he can really explain everything.
Wow, that was tedious...
My apartment for the summer is really nice, it's a one bedroom with a living room, kitchen, utility room, etc...it's just weird to be by myself most of the time. The only people I have to hang out with I feel like I'm intruding on, so that's not good...Erin and Becca especially even though I know they're not doing anything really, but still...so I hang out a lot with Aaron S and Emily Caskey, which is fun, but yeah, weird at the same time. We watch a lot of DVD's...which is fine, it's just not always to my taste. I should practice more and study more, but I just don't feel like it most of the time. And that's about it! It's weird cooking for myself all of the time...I feel that I need to plan it all better but I am not sure how to go about that.
So I have been sleeping really well here (the bed is SO comfortable and I got some really nice sheets to go on it)...but I have been having a LOT of nightmares. Particularly multi-part nightmares (where it continues from night to night)...like one where Courtney (Candace's sister) was undergoing a "Cleansing Ceremony" at a church I went to, where a lot of daggers/needles where connected to a wooden design and then pressed into her arms/face/stomach/etc, making her bleed a lot to 'cleanse' her spirit. That was the sequel to a dream where I had been in London (where Courtney now lives). Then in another dream I was visiting Mme. Leslie in her mountain house (yes, she has one and it's adorable) and she made a comment about a mountain being odd and how she hoped it wasn't a volcano, I of course said that that was ridiculous and that the heat was from something else, obviously. So the dream ended there and I just now (in the real world) woke up from a dream where Emily and I were on a mountain hike and on the way back the volcano erupted and we were trying to get away in the car...it was pretty bizarre.
So yeah, I'm glad I'm sleeping well, but it's really weird for me to remember all of these dreams and it's really weird that they're all nightmarish though no real harm comes to me in them...eh.
Basically, I can't wait for lessons/work/school (they begin staggered one day from one another) to start so that I have something to do rather than laze around. Hope you all are doing well!
