Declawing Pets

Hmm. I'd never really come across the whole declawing thing before I had any cat-owning American friends. It's v rare over here. And I'm just used to cats having claws. I just think that if people can't live with some things getting clawed they probably shouldn't have cat.

In your case, you didn't know... Just say, hey, I just found out I was wrong, sorry about that. But you never have (and presumably never will) arrange to have a cat declawed, right? So don't feel too bad about it.

I had never heard of declawing until I met Dave. I do believe it's cruel and I would never do it to a pet of mine. I can deal with the scratched furniture and the potential damage, and so should anyone else who makes the commitment to have a pet.

In your case, you didn't know. Simple as that. You can't be held responsible for that, you were too young in the first place. You know better now.

*hugs*

So you didn't know, you were wrong, and now you admit you were wrong and have reconsidered your opinions. This sounds a lot like the everyday life of an adult to me. :)

I'm not in favor of declawing cats, but there is a lot worse that could happen to them. Believe me after some of the stuff I've had shredded, including me, I can understand people doing it.
