First of all, I have a new layout:
benitle. Ain't it pretty? I'm still getting used to it. I've had the Sam/Dean layout forever and whenever I go to some LJ now, I'm all "oh wow, does So-and-so have a new layout?" and then I remember that I watch everything in my own style and that I have a new layout. Silly me. There's two minor things I wanted to tweak

Eames calls Arthur pet names because he knows it pisses Arthur off
That! A pet name now and then to get a rise out of Arthur seems to be very in character for Eames to me, no matter how new or old their relationship is. But never too often. (I've yet to find a fandom where I like it when pet names keep coming up all the time and for some fandoms it just doesn't work at all, imo.)
Since I'm still all new to the fandom: got some good recs for me? *puppy dog eyes*

I totally find them ridiculous if they're overdone, but a pet name here or there, I see nothing wrong with. Also, I can either see it as Eames trying to ruffle Arthur's feathers or him being a genuinely caring guy who actually means it. But that's just my fluffy heart. ;)
I do! You can check my Inception tag at Delicious for various things I've liked. You obviously can refine the search with various tags. Most of the stuff is Arthur/Eames anyway though.

About the pet names again... it's possible that right now I'm a wee bit biased against them used in a purely caring way 'cause of an overdose I had to suffer thanks to the Star Trek fandom lately (any fic with McCoy as part of the pairing is at high risk). But if an author knows to keep them special by using them sparingly and if it fits the character (Eames) I'm good with it.
Btw. do you know if it's canon that Eames is British or has that been carried over by the fandom from Tom Hardy being British?

I think pet names just don't work in all fandoms. If I look at SPN for example, the idea of Sam and Dean using pet names makes me shudder in a not good way. Or Criminal Minds. Ugh. But with Eames, I don't find them bad at all.
I don't think it's been explicitly mentioned in the movie and I haven't read the entire script or production material. I remember though that Tom Hardy spoke about his character where he suggested that maybe Eames comes from old money or that he has some kind of military background. I think he mentioned the M1-5 in particular. So that implies that Eames is British.

apologizing because this is your first fic, you didn't get it beta'd, English isn't your first language, yadda, yadda, yadda.
I hate when people do this!
I still haven't read any Inception fic, so I can't really vote in your poll...

It's my biggest pet peeve. Stop fishing for compliments already! Argh.

Good: to annoy, distract, or when not even being conscious of it.
Bad: over-use, improper use, or when it is just clunky and doesn't flow with what else is being said/what else is going on.
