I need to read, and write

Sometimes now I feel that my vocabulary has become boring and limited, my expressions drawn from the same uninspired pool of canned phrases, my writing increasingly matter-of-fact and certainly less varied. Hey, not to rub it in or anything, but I told Yish that the Navy journals are highly unlikely to have morsels like "we ploughed through choppy seas for the past hour", "we some of the most fearsome weapons in the world" or "the sands of Hawaii glitter like crystals", unlike what the recruitment ad would suggest. Instead they'd read "bunk is nice", "duty is sianz", or "CO is niao". =p

Tell Yish to read my journal (if it's still around). When I was a cadet I actually wrote slightly more interestingly. However, I still think my entries are full of smoke :P

I like your journal entries!

I blame the epidemic of poor writing on GP. It teaches you the exact opposite of good writing -- clear and concise. That's why most Singaporeans have issues with communication, let alone expression.
