I don't see that much of a problem, perhaps because of how I read or what I read. While I enjoy Science Fiction and Fantasy, I also read Adventure, Mysteries, Mainstream, and the Classics from time to time. I do most of my reading at work on my lunch hour, so it takes me a while to finish anything. Thus I am not in a mad hunt to ensure my TBR pile is full.

My folks were readers, and I've inherited a large portion of the books they had. They are boxed up in the basement, and I can always browse through those if I need to. A large number of them are Classics, many from Reader's Digest.

Although I didn't go this year, I enjoy the bookstore and autograph party at the annual Pacific Northwest Writers Association Conference. Usually I find a few books by a range of authors, buy them and have them signed.

In a final twist, a friend introduced me to a series of books that eventually led to me having an LJ account. That in turn introduced me to other writers whose work I've found interesting.

I read about new authors on friend's lj's and blogs and also on agent and other writing industry blogs.
