We were gods yesterday, for an hour, in the Carlinville, Illinois skatepark. Astronauts from a distant planet, Joe Waffles and I glided across the worn metal surfaces of the halfpipes and quarterpipes to a cacophony of "WHOAH"s and "DANG"s from six or seven 3rd graders, apparently indigenous to the park.
