Sulha

On Wednesday I took the day off from ICAHD and went to the Sulha peace festival. Five years ago, Sulha started in the North as a huge celebration hosted by a family in the family's olive orchards. It has since grown considerably and now meets in public parks. While this year I don't think there were many more than 1000 participants, there were ( Read more... )

I could comment little asides about Shutei haNevua not really being a spoken word group and how amazing Dabke was the third night in full costume, but really I want to ask about ICAHD. That is, when/what can I do? Are y'all still building? What else do you, mister knowitallinthebestofallpossibleways, recommend for someone to get involved in when she only has a few full open days next week but lots of afternoons for the next longtime? Thanks kiddo.

OK, so the Shutim aren't a spoken word group, but then, I wasn't there to hear so how should I know?
Yeah, we're building until Friday. Come play -- I'll give you a call.

anthroposophic?

I can parse the roots, but is this a term that I should recognize?

it's not one I'd ever heard of before, but here's what wikipedia offers. It also has a section on Waldorf/anthroposophic educational theory, which is probably more immediately relevant.

Good memories of Mrs. McM. I talked to Lauren Carel at Rikud on thursday who told me about her Latin trip. Apparently they went to the same places we did, and rabbi yondorf came along as well. I neglected to mention why I was having trouble remembering all the places we went to during our trip, because she *was* my chanicha back in the day, and is friends with that person's sister.

heh heh heh.
Wow, that was a long time ago. Today I was looking through my passport after coming through the checkpoint (a daily activity I'm strangely used to) and noticed that neither Italy nor Germany gave me passport stamps.
It's fun, being a semi-madrich.

+ rosh pina? that's right next to chatzor, right? on workshop i lived at kibbutz kfar-hanassi which is right outside rosh pina and chatzor i think. i'd forgotten the names of those towns. we went to rosh pina to rent videos and go to the mall.
+ your description of sulha makes me infinitely less excited about my recent decision to go to folk fest.. it's powerful and inspiring and makes me long to be there, or a whole range of other places other than alone in my apartment typing away and not communing with anyone. you know? but i guess it's important to remember ecclesiastes [and my last name].

you're impressive and great.

i'm not really sure where rosh pina is, to tell the truth. I mean yes, I could look at a map, but i haven't. It's in there somewhere.

yes, et this and et that. maybe being home will prove to be what you need.

thank you.
