Not exactly sure how parking works for the dorms-- I do know that at Hamline sometimes the parking lot would get full (I had to pay for that permit, too) and then I would have to park on the street and just keep track of where my car was. Dinkytown has a lot of street parking, it would just be a walk to get to the dorms.
Soo yeah. You're planning on bringing a car, I'm guessing? :D even if you don't get a permit (or however it works-- for that you'll have to ask them) and you wanted to have your car, you could just keep it parked on the streets-- again it might be a walk and I don't know how I'd feel about leaving my car unsupervised for so long, but then again when I was at Hamline I had the crappy Sable and I didn't really care about that car too much.
A degree in Art doesn't have to be a waste. I wouldn't throw it out in any case-- maybe double major? Lots of people double major these days.
