It seems I'm missing part of the story? Why were you lecturing him about respecting his brother?

I'd seen it before - Josh egging Kyle on to abuse his brother. I feel sorry for the kid - he comes from an abusive family himself. But Kyle has treasured Josh's friendship enough to trash his own brother, who loves him more than life. Little Ben is a gentle, sensitive child in the body of a 19 year old. He ISN'T Josh's older brother Kevin. But all the anger Josh feels toward Kevin is being taken out on an easy target. I just hope I'm not too late.

It sounds like Josh is having a negative effect on Kyle, and the rest of the family in turn - should the two be separated? It's not going to make him happy at first but in the end might be better.

...in this apartment complex, people come and go like they're caught in revolving doors. Josh is pretty much Kyle's only friend. I'm trying to find ways around that - and I think I have - but it ain't-a gonna be easy. If only he DID have other friends, I could pry them lose and yes, there would be resentment. In this situation, he has to have someone else to turn to.
