Hoping NBC survives long enough for Southland to air! :(

I knew things were not going well for NBC, but now I'm  just hoping the network stays afloat long enough for season 2 of Southland to air!

Wouldn't it be great if the series was sold to a cable network???? Wonder if ( Read more... )

This is disturbing on so many levels.

I agree, and since I have yet to see a promo other than the short one posted on the NBC site, I'm starting to wonder what the network's plan is.

I think S/land is the last NBC show to premier so a little support form the network would be helpful.

You're assuming that NBC has a *plan*!

Fuck! Shit! Crap!I can't see S/land just dying.I do think another channel will buy and air it.I don't like to hazard a guess on who that will be.

I also think it's a definite that the cast would have some knowledge of things being amiss. None of them seem anything other than optimistic.

Hope we are worrying about nothing. Uuugh! It's the waiting game again!!

*hugs*

I'm not sure what the cast knows, remember Cudlitz didn't even know that the premier date had been pushed back a month until someone told him on Twitter.

I want to believe that they are all truly optimistic, but a job is a job and supporting your network, professing optimism and towing the company line is all part of the job.

I'll be hoping for the best, but expecting the worst!

Well, GE/NBC/Universal, etc., has been in trouble for some time, but they're still spending lots of money at their big Wisconsin mega-site.

I'm not sure about any advertising budget outside of their own outlets (which should include more than just the NBC network, but should use the umbrella of USA, Oxygen, etc.), but I doubt they'll be buying much time elsewhere. Print media? Who knows what arrangements they'll make, but they have to make some investments or they'll only dig deeper. Too bad so much was allocated to the Leno quagmire.

If they were to be bought out or reorganize, that would be an involved process, so, no matter what, that legal and financial wrangling would take time. Any corporate "chop shop" activity wouldn't be immediate. I just hate to see "Southland" suffer in the meantime. It has been a critical and media darling, so there's always that attraction for other airing outlets looking for a solid acquisition. At least NBC doesn't own or produce it!

Yes, agreed NBC has been floundering for years, they are fast becoming the 4 network instead of the 3rd, with Fox beating them regularly in programming ( ... )

ITA re: Leno. No, I haven't seen it. I haven't seen any Leno show in many years, and the last time might have been when Ben was on and Jamie Lee Curtis embarrassed herself by practically sitting in his lap and commandeering the talk time. I guess that makes any statements from me purely wishful thinking and uniformed! They'll stay that way ( ... )

ITA with you but I prefer to go on being optimistic.

It's the only thig us 'Brits' can be really. We've been down this path before not even knowing if the S! would be aired at all here. The waiting game won out in the end.

Like you I don't know much about financing and corperate things.Surely they will sell to another broad casting company.Avoiding the loss of a veritable great show that may well help the money to come rolling and trickling in.

This is getting to be a Fox and OC saga all over again!
Maybe time to start petioning!?.
