The Good Wife, Haven

1. I thought Tom Hiddleston had the worst fans but Benedict Cumberbatch's fans are currently the actual worst. He's talented and you want to have his babies. WE GET IT. I'm not even tracking his tag on Tumblr and I feel overloaded with Cumbernews and Cumbergifs and Cumberinspiredtea. I would put him on Tumblr Saviour but he's starring in the ( Read more... )

Seriously. Someone created a bunch of tea types, made packaging, and gave them names, all on a Sherlock theme.

They were giving them away or selling them.

I do NOT get the Cummerbatch thing. Sure, he's fine in Sherlock but what he's done to inspire those levels of obsession is beyond me.

Re: Haven. Unlike you, I do like 'if we touch we die' and 'woman who can't feel learns to' tropes (the latter is still a minority one to the 'dude who can't feel and lady who teaches him' one, and I adore both) but I love how functional and good friends Audrey and Nathan are. And mmmm, touching!

I don't mind 'woman who can't feel learns to' because when done well it can be great. But 'woman who can't feel is taught to do so by a man' can be really problematic if not written well - it can infantilise the woman.

But! Luckily not a problem in this show and I really only brought it up because I didn't expect the characterisation to be as unstereotypical as it is. Even the love triangle with Duke is handled unexpectedly well - normally I can't abide love triangles.

Still, my preference is Audrey and Nathan. Friends! Touching! And solving mysteries!

I am pretty much a sucker for 'damaged person learns to love' trope, whatever the gender of the person happens to be :)

This aside, I just LOVE how Audrey and Nathan here are not like that - they are friends with major attraction and compatibility.

Shockingly, I like Duke too.
