“Kyuhyun hurry up! Or you gonna be late for the class, you brat!” Hyomin’s voice sounded threatening, that Kyuhyun hastily grabbed all the books that he need and put them in one bag. Siwon usually prepares an empty bag for him every day next to his left side of the bed, for his own convenience when it comes to matters like this. It was a habit too for his brother to make sure that his books were always neatly arranged so that Kyuhyun know which and which he need to bring to his music class.

“Coming, coming! Hyung, where did you put my walking stick?? I can't find it on my desk!” he could hear Siwon’s answer “it’s on your bed” when his hand touched a long metal under his pillow. “Ah I found it!” he said, and unfolded the white stick. Clashing sounds of metal hit his ears and he made sure that the locks of it has been in their places before made his move downstairs.

As soon as he opened the door, however, he was unable to lift his stick. Something was not right and he remembered his brother told him that there is a small deep hole on his room’s floor and asked him to be careful. Kyuhyun sighed. Hyomin was shouting like a crazy bird downstairs, urging him to come down. It was a mere luck that Siwon was at home then that finally his big brother told Hyomin to calm down and let him finish preparing himself first. “Well it’s not like the class is going to start in any minute soon”, he added. Kyuhyun couldn’t help it but to smile listening to his reason.

“Come on, darling! Don't do this to me. I’ve done you good things; I’ve polished you, I put you in good places, so please don't do this. Come out from there, this ain’t funny you know?” he tried his hardest to pull the stick out from where it was, when finally he did it, but he forgot that his room was only a few steps away from the stairs, and inertia just didn't help.
The second time Hyomin shouted again, there was a loud crash at the stairs, and Siwon was doing his best at rushing towards his little brother who was rolling down the stairs with a bent stick in his hand.

-

“Three years of being in love, and this is what you gave me; a separation? And in such a harsh way, too.” His long fingers moved along the what used to be a straight metal on his lap. Kyuhyun sighed, and put away the now useless stick, when a voice greeted him from his side.

“What happened? She’s cheating on you?” he could hear someone was lifting his stick from his side, and the smell of coffee filling his nose. “Yeah, she got bored with me, so she tried her best to get away from me.” He could hear the man’s laugh; it was almost like a giggle, never he met a man who laugh like that all his life. It was childish, yet cute and fascinating.

“Hmm... she just hasn’t realized how badly you’re in love with her.” He liked it, the way that man called his stick just like he did. Siwon would usually give him a snort when he called his stick ‘she’ because to Siwon, hey a stick is a stick, so don't give it a name or gender!

“Yeah I know. Cruel world, isn’t it?”

A chuckle. It was cute.

“Uhuh, I guess so. It’s a cruel world out there, because someone good and as busy like me shouldn’t be hanging around inside a ward just because a low blood pressure. And wanna know something? The doctors in here; they really need some hair spa treatment! The one who checked me up was wearing an afro wig on his head!”

“Afro?” he heard a lump was swallowed. Then a series of nervous ‘uhs’ and ‘ahs’ and ‘ohs’ so yeah Sungmin was feeling guilty for mentioning a physique affirmation.

Kyuhyun laughed. “Don't worry. I’m blind, not deaf. I can hear your nervous voice, man.”

“Ah. It’s Lee Sungmin.”

“Sorry? I don't... ah your name?” whether it was only his over-sensitive hearing that worked as his second eyes or that Sungmin was so easy to be predicted, he swear he could hear a head nodded with shuffling sounds; it was the bangs slapping Sungmin’s forehead.

“Silly.”

“Huh?”

“No... nothing. I’m Cho Kyuhyun.”

-

Maybe it was because Cho Kyuhyun was not a talkative person, or it was just because he was too tired to have a long chat with Sungmin, he finally thought that ‘ah noisy!’ when Sungmin sat next to him (his bed felt heavy on a side) and continued his chatter on how bad the nurses in the ward looked like, or how cute the black cat that ran passed them out and Kyuhyun hushed him to be quiet about it because a black cat was a way of the devils worked.

“Don't tell me you believe in zombies and witchcraft stuff, do you?”

“If they don't exist, why would people have discussions on them in the first place? At least someone must’ve seen them to storytell about them.” Sungmin snorted, and lay head onto Kyuhyun’s pillow. The blind man hissed. “Get off, I want to sleep.”

Sungmin clucked his tongue, and rolled over and off the bed. “You know, you’re pretty rude to someone you first met.”

“Anyone would have the possibility of being rude if their neighbour is you, Sungmin-shii.” Sungmin stomped his feet, pouted, and walked then jumped on his bed. An old nurse, maybe aged around forty scolded him, but he stuck out his tongue and dived his head into his pillow.

“See? not just me.”

“Whatever. Good night.”

Kyuhyun laughed silently. This guy was pretty cute, he thought, and leaned against the bedhead. Sungmin stopped talking, but his breathing was pretty loud. Kyuhyun wondered if he was already asleep, and tossed the bait.

“It was fun talking to you today, Sungmin-shii.”

Sungmin blushed. It’s a good thing Kyuhyun was blind.

“Ye - yeah. See you tomorrow.” Or he’ll be teased for the rapid heartbeat and the flushing cheeks.
