Siwon sat down next to his dongsaeng. The young man’s hands were holding his own cellphone, just like what he did since three weeks before he undergone his operation. And he has been holding it since the time he woke up from the drug used in the operation a week ago.
Sungmin really did as they planned.
“Kyu...” no response from him. Siwon sighed heavily. He knew who’s call that Kyuhyun was waiting for. He was aware of it.
“Hyung, he’s not coming, is he?” Siwon patted his back, trying to calm him down; and himself as well. “Maybe he’s busy. College students sure got a lot of assignment nowadays than my time. God knows how lucky I was.” Chuckled, Kyuhyun let go of his phone, and Siwon was wondering why.
“Hyung, after this, please teach me harder than before. I really want to score the best for the university entrance exam.” Surprised by the sudden request, Siwon stuttered as he answered Kyuhyun.
“Su-sure. That’s one of my plans after all. But why so sudden?” smiling, Kyuhyun touched the gauze that was wrapping his eyes with his fingers.
“I’ll do well with the therapy later, and I’ll learn harder this time. I won’t bother you to send me to wherever I want to go anymore.” Siwon’s eyes widened. He never thought that Kyuhyun can be so determined like this.
“I want to go to school, the same school where you are teaching now. I want to study together with the friends that I know. I want to play games, even it is kinda late to be done now. I want to challenge you.”
And he palmed his hands together, as if he was making a coclusion to his requests.
“I want to do everything that I have missed in these eleven years of my age.”

“You sure are brave, Cho Kyuhyun.” Donghae first comment as he walked Kyuhyun to their class. A lot of whispers were heard as they saw the funky sunbae-nim with the dark haired new guy with a pair of glasses next to him. Things just didn’t change, huh?
“I am brave, or else, I won’t be able to survived the operation. It’s not something that everyone owned, you know?” Donghae sticked out his tongue as he listened to Kyuhyun’s self-praised.
“The same thing about the old you and the new you is that you’re sighted, but your tongue can never be tied.” And hearing that, Kyuhyun gave out quite a big laugh, surprising a few students who were walking next to them.

As they walked into the classroom, more whispers were running through their ears. Well, Kyuhyun couldn’t help with that. It is a surprise for a student to enter high school in his senior year, but what can he do?
“You still need to go to the therapy?” Donghae asked as he put the red bean bun that he bought from the school cafe a few minutes ago. Kyuhyun looked at him and nodded.
“I still got two months left. After that, once-a-week medical check-up for a year to see whether my eyes are adjusting well with me or not.”
His hands were putting out a Braille book of Mathematical symbols. “You’re still not getting used to the normal symbols yet, aren’t you?” Donghae moved to his side to take a peek into the special book of Kyuhyun.
“I’m still adjusting. Sometimes I got confused which one that should be used when I’m doing assessments at home. So I guess, that I’ll be needing it in school, too.”
“Aw, shut it up, man! You’re playing humble just so you can bragged about your scores to me. Whenever we were doing the test your brother prepared, you got the highest mark. You boasting brat.” He pouted.
“You are my best buddy after all. I thought you would be too dumb to figure it out. Well done, Donghae-shii!” Donghae just couldn’t help it but smile. To sulk with someone like this newly-sighted ex-blind man, he must be out of his mind.
Kyuhyun smiled. And as he smiled, Donghae could hear a lot of gasps from the girls that were unconsciously surrounding them.
“My friend, I guess, you are about to be exposed to what high school girls can do for love in just a few days. Trust me.”
“Huh?”
***
And Donghae was right. A few days later, a dozen of love letters were hidden in Kyuhyun’s indoor shoes locker. And chocolates in his desk drawer.
“See, I told you, didn’t I? Hey, can I have some?” Donghae asked for a bar of chocolate while Kyuhyun was reading some of the love letters he received. Responding to Donghae’s lustful glance at the candies that he got, he shoved all of them at once to his friend.
“Here, you can share it with the others.” By the others, he meant the male classmates that were there at that time, who gave out jealous stares before Kyuhyun’s offer.
“Thanks, Kyu-shii!” a fat boy with orange, Afro-ken like hair thanked him as he munched down a large bite of chocolate in his hand.
“You’re so nice, Kyu-shii! I bet this is one of the reasons why girls starts to fall for you, after all.” Said another classmate, showing his gummy smile as he was trying to grab a piece of candy bar from Donghae’s grip. And more thanks speech given, as the ritual killing of the candies begun.
Kyuhyun suddenly slammed his hand onto the letters. He was angry, but his lips were carving a smile. Surely, a forced one.
“I appreciate your guys gratitude, but please, do not call my name with the ‘shii’.” And as he figured out some unpleasant stares, he knew he need to cover his anger.
“It’s not like calling me with honorific title would do any better. Just call me Kyu as Donghae does. We’re classmates, after all.” He forced his smile again. Donghae saw that, but he didn’t feel like interfering.
“Oh, just that? If Kyuhyun’s the name that you want, then Kyuhyun it is.” The fat boy, or Shindong gave him an innocent smile, and Kyuhyun suddenly felt bad about almost losing his temper before.
'Sorry, but there's only one person who can call me with that name, and I'm not giving the privilege to any other.'
***
I might sound like I didn’t care that you left. I might sound like I didn’t care about the love. But the real reason is,
I just want to see; can I be someone worthy for you, other than just being the one who was secured by your warm hands, and showered by your pure love everyday as before?
You left, because you didn’t sure whether we can survive this romance. You must have been in the sleepless nights, wondering how long this love would last.
I’m still a kid, when I fell in love with you. I’m still a kid, that’s why I couldn’t hold you when you were leaving me. I’m still a person who wasn’t worth to be with you right now.
I know this is lame, but please believe in me. I’ll come to find you, when it is time. And I need you to wait for me.
This love isn’t something that I can let go without a fight.
