The 'alalā (Hawaiian crow) has been reintroduced a few times now, but every time their populations rapidly decrease, and they have to rescue the remaining ones. It's kinda a bummer. I worked on a project 20 years ago with them on the big island. We worked side by side with another release project in South Kona on big island in 2012. I'm not sure if there will ever be a viable wild population there in the islands. They are super cool birds, and their song is really neat.
