I agree that McGwire is a lock, but I'm wondering if the writers will try to make a point by not voting him in on the first ballot. I know that if I were a writer, and I believed that he juiced (like I do) but didn't have concrete proof, I would probably try to make a statement by not voting for him in his first year of eligibility. I'd probably have to cave and vote for him later on though. What do you think?

If my vote counted, I'd vote in this order 1)Ripken, 2)Gwynn, 3)McGwire. Put him in, but don't seem too trusting of him.

Do the writers rank their votes? I thought they voted for whoever they want, with equal weight for each vote, and it takes 75% of ballots cast to get in. Is that right?

I'm probrably wrong. I thought it was like MVP balloting. In any case...if my voted mattered, I think that Ripken would be my first vote. And I would like to think that sports reporters would recognize that he may not have a world series ring, but look for everything he's done for baseball. McGwire might be have the homerun title behind him, but Ripkin's played game streak and the class and dignity he played make him a better candidate.

Does Vick actually think he'll be picked for the NFL. Hasn't he only played a minimum of two seasons? Hasn't he be charged with two felonies? Is he going to transfer and play against UMass next semester? CFL? Is he going to play for the Plymouth Outlaws? Or is he the next "He Hate Me", except his name will be "Thug Life".
