Poem about my late dog Sadie. tell me what you think

I.
She belonged to me
She would follow me around
Sleep in my bed
She was small, almost delicate
The owners before us
Beat her so she was afraid
Of big men like my dad
She was a mutt
With paws like tulips

II.
We drove to Cape Cod
And she always knew we were there
That smell that even I could smell
Of the water, and the ocean
Upon arrival
The first thing we always did
Was run down to the beach
And her simple dog contentment
was sky-rocketing
Running in the sand
The bright sun
Gleaming off her fur

III.
Nikki and I would always walk the jetty
It was tradition
That we had to get to the end
At least 50 times
But she would always stop halfway
We called and called
C’mon Sadie, you can do it!
But she couldn’t
And always walked sadly back to the beach
Gradually she got further
And always had that same sad walk back
Until that day she made it
Pride filled up inside me
For this feat that she had finally conquered
And I ran over to her and hugged her
Good dog Sadie! Good dog!
We went back to the house
And I found steak in the fridge
She never got this
Ever
My dad wouldn’t hear of it
So I gave it to her in secret
And I didn’t know if she knew
But I knew
She was happy

IV.
It was late September
One of those cold windy days
That truly makes you miss summer
I looked down at the floor
And tears flooded my eyes
As my dad walked in
Half crying, half trying
To be strong with the news
It’s that time. It’s her time. Do you want to come?
How could I say no?
She was my dog
So we left
She could barely breathe in the back seat
My red eyes stared forward
Out at nothing
And silence overcame those sad wheels
We arrived, and she needed to go inside
And I volunteered to carry her
She kind of looked at me
As I held her
And knew I was there with her
And I felt her fragile body
Shake slightly
And after, nothing

V.
I miss her
