I've got a gig tomorrow, as I mentioned yesterday, so of course I'm sitting her doing guitar maintenance. I'll be plugged into a PA system, so I don't need the full volume and projection I normally need for playing on a streetcorner; instead I can try to make it more playable. I removed the shim from under the nut, and it's a lot more comfortable

As I read this I was laughing my ass off and feeling very juvenile doing so. I get the same chuckles whenever I think about RAM and Hard Drives.

Our first computer was an IBM XT, which I disassembled when we got a new computer. I remember, while dismantling the hard drive, the amusement of finding that the thing the disk heads were mounted on was shaped exactly like a middle finger. My mom came into my room to see what I was laughing at, shook her head and said "yes, we're going to have to pay lots of money to send you to eingineering school one day; you've already got an engineer's sense of humor"

I'll have to talk to some of my buddies from Massachusetts and find it for you; I once saw a short piece of erotica written entirely in unix commands.
