hahahaha. I shouldn't be laughing at this. It's terribly scary, but I can't help but think that only in the good ol' US of A do we try and turn a 'war for peace" (that makes me shudder and chuckle,too...) into a sci-fi flick...

it's just more proof that we, as a society, ingest too much intellectual junk food. Even those pimping for the dealers are getting addicted to their own drugs. Had the people in charge been reading the good science fiction, written by visionaries like Robert Heinlein and Arthur Clarke, They'd know better how to run things, how to keep a realtively peaceful society and still provide good quality of life for everyone, rich and poor. Instead, they've been watching Flash Gordon and all that stuff, seeking ultimate domination and power. And cool toys.

TV is bad, m'kay?

oh, and the most elegant way I've ever heard the war for peace thing stated:

"fighting for peace is like fucking for chastity" -- graffiti on a wall near Penn State, Vietnam era

Well, they did propose a satellite defense system called "Star Wars"...

Ben, did you get the response to your message about learning song tunes, etc.? I posted it back at my own LJ...

yeah, I got the response and have resumed digging. If I had some extra money around, I would go out and get CDs to study. However, money is really tight seeing as it's winter, this apartment has a heater that's at least half a century old, and there is NO ARTS SCENE in this entire region. I can't wait till I get back in college, for the sole purpose of graduating and getting out of here to someplace where I could actually make a modest living as a performer

::sigh::

Pardon the outburst of crankiness. Thank you very much for sending me resources and your recommendations. Very much appreciated :)
