I totally agree. When you play the game over you start with all your weapons and the million yen you earned from defeating Dark Lord Yamato. I thought there was some hinting that in the second play there would be more things to unlock and perhaps the whole storyline with the Waka, Kaguya, the Celestial Plain and the Moon Tribe would be tied up. I found Dark Lord Yamato to be amazing reminiscent of some ancient god, or some ancient race (like from Atlantis due the primitive pre-Mayan like markings) that predated human. This race seems alien; futuristic but it is the source of all the folk Shinto demons of Japan (the imps, the owls, Crimson Helm, Orochi, Ninetails) and is obviously more advanced than humanity at the time of classical Japan. This race also seems related but different from the race that populated the Celestial Plain. The Celestials are associated with the sun instead of the moon and seem more old-world, reminiscent of the resting place for warriors and gods in Norse and Greek Mythology (Valhalla, Mt Olympus respectively
