I adore Lady Gaga and have since this past summer. She is great and a breath of fresh air. So much so that other pop stars are immitating her -cought Xtina-
Britneys new cd is pretty good, Circus and Rock me In are two of my favorites. I also agree about Amnesia, I think her cd ends on a very strong note.
now i've discovered the new Beyonce and i'm hooked. 'HALO' is freaking the most beautiful song she's ever done. and 'RADIO' is so much fun.
the Killers is DOPE. it's a lot more downtempo and less rocker than i thought, but it totally works. they really try some fun things with it. my favorite so far is 'i can't stay'. beautiful
i stand by Amnesia being the best thing britney has done.
Xtina is pretty obvious in her Gaga-ripping, but it's pop music. everything is borrowed. i found out that Roisin Murphy has done a lot of the stuff Gaga is doing already and you can compare anyone to anyone. pop music is like the world of 'there's room for all of us: let's share' so i'm ok with it. i learned that from Gwen Stefani who said she wanted to call her first solo album 'IT USED TO BE YOURS, NOW IT'S MINE' lol
i can't believe i'm getting so Top 40 mainstream again though. i was so big into quirky indie rock for such a time. oh well. there's room for all of it :)
I'm taking my sister to Masque for her 18th birthday next weekend... which is insane because a. I haven't been there in almost two years and b. she's about to be fucking EIGHTEEN.
miss you, mister h. let's do lunch. or some other social-type thing.
i would love to do some sort of social-type thing. the truck deal fell through but we're going to the bank tomorrow to consult on a loan and further car-shopping. my credit is fucked and nic's is brand new so it's kind of a tough venture, but we will persevere!
how weird that your sis is 18. time, man. slow it on down.
Next, but we're actually going on Thursday [Thanksgiving] night since that's her birthday... strange how it falls this year, but it does mean I get in free with my BSU ID and I only have to pay $2 for her cover. So it's kind of win-win.
Sucks to hear about the truck going bust. I should probably make with the perusing of automobiles sometime soon. My poor car is getting older every day. Seriously, time should take a short break.
i'm pumped for tomorrow night. i am much in need of getting my dance on and it will be funny to see how Nic responds to the supernova of gay all around him. i hope he doesn't get drunk and punch someone.
I know this might sound bad, but I refuse to purchase anything from the Killers ever again until I can get confirmation that Brandon Flowers doesn't give Tithings to the Mormon Church.
He had an interview where he was all huffy and puffy about being discriminated in the music industry because of his devout mormonism.
well, there are scads of members of the Mormon community who do not support the Prop 8 decision and given his flair for fashion and flamboyance, not to mention his fanbase, even though he's not gay himself, i bet he's sympathetic to the cause and a 'to each their own' sort of guy even if he's not pro-gay.
but that's totally your right. i don't like to people's beliefs against the reception of their art because for me, there's a division there. besides which, i'm sure there are tons of mainstream artists who are homophobic or have opposing views. as long as they're quiet about them, i'm cool. people will believe what they want. not everyone can be Madonna.
