Am I right that they both get the same amount of food? Does your third-grader not eat more?

They actually have remarkably similar appetites for being three years apart in age. I try to give the third-grader a little bit more--either a slightly larger box (as on Weds, Thurs, and Fri of this particular week), or just packing her box a bit more tightly. Regardless, it's a bit of a crapshoot. There are days that they both eat everything in their lunches...days when one devours the whole thing and the other barely eats any of it...days when they both bring home mostly-uneaten lunches. And I'm never sure if it's because they don't like what I packed or if it's because there was a particularly alluring game of tag going on that they just HAD to get into.

I think it is that they want to finish their lunch too fast so they can play with the other kids that eat faster. I see that a lot when I help during lunchtime at a school. I would devour every lunch you would give me :)

I don't know if I've said this before, but I love seeing these lunches. You always add those sweet little creative touches that keep a meal from being too drab for kids, but at the same time, they don't look like they take forever-and-a-day to pack.

They're a great inspiration to me, because I tend to make my meals fresh, for myself, and when you live alone you need that extra nudge to avoid saying "forget it" and just getting fast food.
