I am so fucking thrilled about this. So thrilled and so proud and... yeah. I'm just happy. Very pleased with this. I'm a wee bit worried about the next election because our federal elections have been so close in recent history. This is either going to topple it one way or the other and if Conservatives come into power then the whole gay marriage thing is completely screwed. Of course, the Conservative party also wants to let Quebec split and make abortions and birth control illegal, so I imagine the entire country would change if they came into power and, yeah, bad idea to get me started on politics. I'll stop rambling now. *g*
As an American dyke and general fan of Canada I'm thrilled as well. Good on you, up there! I hope the election goes favorably. We're pretty well screwed down here for the next few years, so I'll just live vicariously.
Hahahahaha, I know, right? My biggest squee is for them.
That discussion was on and off the media here in Germany for quite a while. And what did they do? Some weird compromise.
There's something called 'registered cohabitation' here now. Something between marriage and no marriage. That's open to homo- and heterosexual couples. Real marriage says the same old man-woman thing.

I really think it's a sign things are changing, so hopefully the next US election will reflect that as well.
And sadly? My first thought beyond 'omg, I can marry Rachel McAdams!!!' was for Ray and Fraser. Because I am a huge dork.
