While I do have a very particular way of expressing myself verbally - it is not terribly precise. My usage of language is often repetitive and somewhat blurry. I like the way that I talk about things, I make myself laugh - but I still feel like I would sound like an idiot if turned into an interview sound-byte ( Read more... )

I had no idea this was what "adulthood" would feel like. I still don't know that I'll ever actually feel like a "grown up" but I am definitely coming to terms with the fact that I am on my own, and boy is it weird.

Why is your way of speaking (or must it be) superior to theirs? And who would view it as being thus, and it's their opinion really so objective?

Mergh. I wrote a really great response to this, but it got lost. Ok in summary:

Yes, my cultural centrism is showing. All dialects are valid.

I'm mostly concerned about the degradation of my code-switching abilities.
