Happiness.

Strange as it sounds, the first time I heard the word happiness in a context which surprised me, was talking about the state of mind of an old friends daughter at school. I feel that happiness is one of the highest measures you can use for your life. Almost everything is empty if you are not happy with what you have done and will do in the future.

I think a lot of it for me was to do with the family. You can forget about your own happiness while your struggling to keep everything else going, especially as the only earner. You kind of keep your head down, get on with what's important, and 20 years later realise just how important it is.

Sorry for the tardy reply, I think what I was trying to say, was that I was doing a lot of stuff which I felt was necessary, but which didn't always make me happy. All set in the context of surprise that happyness was regarded by some as so important.

I think I get it now, but life, like relationships is a compromise. As a person, as a parent, as a partner, I feel there are things which I need to do for others which do not always bring me happyness, but they do bring the satisfaction of haing done the 'right' thing.
