So, simply ages ago (that is to say: July) I wandered into Fashion Bug, on account of I can easily walk there from work and I needed clothes for work. And on one trip, I encountered this dress:
love it love it love it love it love it . that dress IS YOU in style --- as in i can see you in that dress and kudos on the "buying it because i love it." my aunt virgo (not her name-- im just saying aunt virgo to protect her privacy), anyway aunt virgo ALWAYS says do not be a slave to fashion; ergo do not be a slave to the - i buy clothes to make me appear skinny besides honestly that NEVER works because clothes-that-are-designed-to-make-you-skinny are just synthetic fabrics designed to hold in your body- which any unnatural fiber based cloth is uncomfortable by definition because it doesnt breathe--- as in i ONLY wear cotton--- any "clothes that make you skinny" are just going to be a size smaller than what you are which will inadvertently and ironically make you larger and the insiders guys perspective on the whole size debate is: a confident woman is indefinitely sexier than any sized-non-confident tooly mc tool with so self-esteem. so anyway. i love you. you are amazing and i am indefinitely jealous of your fashion sense because

Wow, I thought the LJ had officially died and therefore stopped updating it. If y'all still stop by occasionally, I suppose maybe I ought to actually update it occasionally ;-)
Anyway, I find that this is easier to do with "weird" clothes than with normal. Like, for my work clothes, the first thing is comfort and the second is "flattering", i.e. skinnyizing. But the costume, now...that is completely different. The main point of the costumes is to look AWESOME, and it's really nice to focus on that instead, you know? "But you can see your aaaaaaarms!" "Well, this costume is awesome and requires bare arms, so yes, you can see my arms! HA!" (I have this conversation with myself fairly often. I hope I'm getting better at it.)
