My oldest cat, Sebastian, died early last week. I'd called my mom on the way home from work the day it happened to see if she needed me to pick up anything while I was out, and she seemed off, so I asked her if everything was okay. She told me that our neighbors had found him earlier that morning and buried him in our front yard (their back yard) ( Read more... )

I'm really, really sorry for your loss. :( Pets are like people to me... I can imagine how hard it must be to loose a friend of 15 years like that.

This site has some really nice, affordable memorial stones you can get. I have it bookmarked for that inevitable sad day... :( http://www.artisticetching.com/petmemorials.htm

Thank you for the link, but I got him a large irregular paver from Home Depot after work today. I might eventually get it engraved, but my tastes are fairly spartan, and ignoring the idea of burning a candle, I wanted to mark the site more than build a shrine.

Ahh. Glad you found something you like. I wouldn't ever build a "shrine" for Miami when she goes, but I do like the idea of having a rock I can take with us when we move or whatever. I would just stick it in the garden among the flowers or whatever, no shrinage involved!

Yeah, I plan on taking the stone with me when I move, even if it's to an apartment. If nothing else, I can have someone crafty make it into something.

Sorry about your cat--it's really sad to lose a companion who's been with you so long.

Oh god, I'm so sorry.
My latest entry must seem so insensitive to you.
Really, I'm so sorry for your loss.

We were both blessed to have wonderful kittens in our lives.

Not at all. Losing your cat doesn't mean you're invulnerable to other issues.

I'm sorry - pets are often as important as our human pals. I hope you're doing okay.
