I have no idea, but I would assume so. If nothing else, I'm surprised you don't have dreams about your parents, considering your adversarial relationship with them. I get along with mine much better than a lot of my friends seem to, for instance, but I still have some pretty raging dreams about them.
Oh, I have them sometimes. Usually in my family dreams, I'm trying to achieve some goal or get something or have sex or masturbate and my family members keep coming in and interrupting me and getting in the way.
I know I'm not the only one. My sister K. told me she kept having nightmares where she was trying to take a college entrance test, like the SATs, and mom would ask her to babysit at the last moment, and she would be trying to take the test at the same time as make all the kids behave.
I don't have reoccuring dreams so much as reoccuring things. Specifically, places. When I was growing up I used to have a dream like once a week involving my grandma's house, except it wasn't her house that she had in real life and usually my grandmother wasn't even there. I think her house just equaled adventure and exploration for me because she gave me free reign to run around the upstairs she didn't use and open drawers, discover old things, move furniture around, etc. Usually there'd be a different theme/adventure behind each door in this house, it was almost like the wardrobe to Narnia or something.
Then later, when I was in college, I had a reoccurring place dreams often happened and it was a mall. The things happening were often different, but it was the same mall, not a mall I knew in real life, just a mall. I wouldn't recognize it as the same mall until I woke up and thought "wait, that was that mall I dreamed about last month too".
Weird. I dream about the house I grew up in than the one I've lived in the past eleven years, and though I don't know if it's the same field or not, the dreams where I can't run away from something chasing or falling toward me all seem pretty identical, but that's about the extent of my recurring settings.
It seems strange that you'd dream about the same made-up mall.
I'm a girl, I like to shop...that's all I can figure. I think, in a way, it's a version of the grandma's house, it's a good setting for adventure, a little bit of everything...different stores, different people. I think I may have had a mall dream last night even...but I don't know if it was the same mall...but then again, now I WORK in a mall, so malls are on the brain.
Also, I have a number of airport dreams, but I think that stems from their relation to being timely (the running late OMG! dreams) and the getting lost and not knowing where to go thing, both of which are things I worry about in my waking life.
I don't think dreams mean anything at all. I don't have any recurring ones. I rarely remember dreams as it is. I have died in a dream when I was younger, though. I've been told you're not supposed to be able to do that.
I don't think they're always meaningful or significant, but I wouldn't go so far as to say they don't mean anything at all. It seems apparent to me that some have some pretty self-evident meaning, even if it's something as mundane as being angry with someone or some thing.
something really nice happening, and thinking "this better not be a dream" only to find out the next morning that it was
I repeatedly have dreams where I stumble across a store with a stash of awesome 80's toys (more recently it's become really nice baby items) being sold at a crazy bargain price. The whole dream is about how excited and happy I am as I select the perfect items. Then I wake up and for a moment feel profoundly depressed that I don't actually have a drawer full of nice, new baby clothes or the Sorceress He-Man action figure.
