I *think* a teacher of mine showed him to me; it's far enough in my past that the details are fuzzy. I do recall being over at Phil Foglio's and getting a chance to flip through his hard copy of the Leyendecker book, more than a decade ago. And I thought Rockwell was good. 0_o
ZO, go go go, my man! It'll be worth it, I swear!!
LOVE Leyendecker! I was lucky enough to buy -the- Leyendecker book for $10.00 fifteen years ago. (Strangely, I since gave it away and had someone give it right back!) Always had a feeling he was gay and then, finally, found out he was. No one paints men like that and doesn't mean it! Wonderful wonderful artist. I'd love to see his stuff fresh!
I'se back, my man! But you were a subject of conversation whilst we were off having our fun. Both of us wished we lived closer to thee and Tyler-bean. You're too damn cool to be so goddamn far away!! Drat.
Leyendecker's story is a sad one...closeted gay, alchoholic brother, King of the World and now, obscurity. That's what's got me so excited! I'm gonna see if I can convince someone up here to host it. More likely I'll be able to manage that than fly somewhere, at least in the immediate future.
