My introduction on the Kyokushin Forums

I am simply pasting the entire thing - it has what I wanted to post - but did not feel the need to edit out the stuff people here already know.

Well, it is time for me to introduce myself!  My name is Anna - although I go by Annabelle or Polyanna as well.

First, I will say that my partner is also here, and is also new.  When she started training one on one with someone, I backed away at first.  Let me first say that I am not healthy.  I am overweight - and have issues due to that of course.  About 2 months ago, I started seriously focusing on correcting that.  I started eliminating things from my diet at a slow rate (I.E. First thing to sacrifice was any drink with sugar in it,) and exercising often. Exercise wise, I just started doing it with a few days break in between.  It took a couple weeks before I noticed a difference in my energy and notice a weight loss.  Now, I have given up more things - ice cream, chocolate, and now chips of any kind (big one for me as they are definitely a weakness.)  I increased my exercise - and starting doing the Sweating to the Oldies - I know, it's laughable now that I have started training Kyokushin - but it was a beginning.  I got to the point where I could do a long and a high impact short one without nearly the effort finishing the first one had in the beginning.  I swam, and added aerobics in the pool as well.

All this time, my partner was talking about her training - I got to hear all of the negative things, as well as the positive.  And I saw the results - her increased energy, vigor, and personality changes.  The personality ones have been harder for me to deal with, but I am coping.  She talked and talked, and it increased my interest until I finally started talking to her trainer.  We all talked, and agreed that I could try it once a week, training with another younger individual who would be starting as well.  The first class, I have to admit, totally kicked my butt physically. At least the next day I noticed it.

For me, the physical part of this is not nearly as hard as the mental side.  I am having to completely revamp how I think.  And even though it hard, I want this.  I want the physical gains from doing things right, as well as personal gains through the mental training.

I have read about the workout journals, and will post one after this with my as of incomplete day, and edit it to be complete later.  I have heard great things about this place, and look forward to learning more!
