Happy Valentine's Day, folks!

Anyhoo, as a V-Day gift and as a way to hopefully give myself something to do, I've stolen this writing meme thing from slartibartfast and...well, the first five comments for sure, but I may keep going.

Pick two fandoms and a word limit of anything under a thousand words. I'll write a ficlet of exactly that length with whatever ( Read more... )

"The thing is that there's a lot of assholes in the world," Gerard says earnestly to Kurt, flapping one hand in Frankie's direction while the other reaches for a muffin, "but you can't ever let them bring you down like they want to, the most effective weapon against them is holding your head up high, looking them in the eye as you say 'fuck you.'"

"Wow," Kurt says, laughing a little. "This was definitely not how I thought my morning would go today."

"That's Gerard for you," Ray says, and Frank snorts.

"Yeah," he says, grinning at Gerard. "Sometimes you just gotta sing it out."

*

"Dude," Mikey says, a week later, looking up from his laptop. "Remember that kid Kurt from Ohio? He sent us a video."

They crowd around the computer, and Gerard fucking beams and squeezes Frank close as the opening chords of SING start up.

"No," Rory says, shaking his head.

"What do you mean, no?" The Doctor asks, turning away from the TARDIS door and towards him.

Rory points out the door, flails his hand a little and says, "I mean no. To that! I can accept the cloud fish, the planet made of something that tasted surprisingly like raspberry jam, but that? That can't be real, it shouldn't be real."

The Doctor frowns at him. "Why?"

"It's a flat world," Rory says, "Balanced on top of four elephants on top of a turtle. There is no way that's real ( ... )

"You have something belonging to me," the man says, and Danny blinks, because he's fairly certain he just saw the guy walk out of a supply closet, and not the elevator, and also the guy is wearing a bowtie and a jacket that looks like it belongs on some sort of stereotypical Professor from a British movie ( ... )

Numb3rs and SGA (what, I have a type!! :P )

And 948.

And, I really, really hope your knee is on the improving side of things, even if it did lose in the epic battle of you/knee vs. stairs.

I started writing 400 words of Colby-on-Atlantis!AU, then I got weird about the fraternization rules and chain of command, and instead I ended up fleshing out the HS-teachers!AU from a while back, only from Colby's POV. Hopefully still enjoyable!Colby isn't really sure what to expect when he starts at Atlantis Pi High School. He has a vague sort of worry that it'll be the sort of stereotypical close-knit small town community wherein he has to pass some sort of test before being accepted, but he knows that's just nerves with no real basis in reality ( ... )

"Ignore whatever she just said," Evan says at once, "Stop spreading lies about me, Cadman."

Colby laughs it off, because he can already tell that Cadman likes stirring up drama too much to be completely trusted.

Still when he glances over at her while discussing the original Star Trek vs. the Next Generation with Evan, the tilt of her head might seem innocent if it wasn't also accompanied by a smirk and a waggle of her eyebrows.

*A month later, Colby officially admits defeat in his internal denial of his attraction to Evan. The Friday night drinks seems to be kind of a ritual, and although he does make an effort to talk and socialize with the other teachers as well, he somehow always ends up back in whatever table Evan's sitting at, or Evan ends up at Colby's table ( ... )
