It sounds like you guys are having a lot of fun! I've always wanted to get Dim Sum, and I'm hoping to get some in Chinatown in Boston when I go for the Association of American Geographers meeting (AAG) in April.

And Happy Birthday to my favorite Scorpio!

It goes to eleven!

I think fun is going to happen. I went for Dim Sum with Sam Becker in Seattle last summer, but haven't been since. I told Alicia about it & she has gone a bunch of times. The restaurant she is taking us to is one of the only two recommended by her grad school lab mate (Bing) who just moved to DC also. Can't wait!

Boston in April - cool, are you going to try to get together with any of the crew while you're in close proximity?

I'd like to - we'll see how that goes. I might have a field trip for an ecology class to the Smokies the week before, but I definitely should be able to fit in a day or two for socializing, especially if people can make it to Boston (since I'll be carless).

My other meeting is in Milwaukee in August, so no fun there. But NEXT year's AAG is in Vegas! Woo!

Hmm, you'll be in Boston? Maybe we should meet up...I live 45 minutes south of there, after all.

Kim, I'm sorry I've been out of touch for so long. It would be great to talk with you again. My email remains the same if you would like to send me a message. I don't think I have yours.

Hi Eric!! Glad to hear from you. I have been hearing a lot from Jen Hanciewicz lately, so it must be in the air. I'm at berlygirl.04@gmail.com. I am having a struggle with finding work here in MD, and have been almost completely out of communication with almost everyone for about 2 months now . . . guess it's time to get back into the groove. Send me your e-mail address again to be sure that I have the correct one. Peter is at pjwalsh@wlgore.com too. He is doing really well. We just got a 26' sail boat and will be sailing every weekend probably until November this year. Anyway, tell me what you are up to. Really glad to hear from you.

Love,
Kim

So, did you enjoy sailing...or did you sink?

We are actually still in the limbo of registration - the boat is "federally registered", which means that it can be sailed anywhere in the world. We changed the name, so it has to be re-registered. It is now week #7 and we have not received the paperwork yet. So, our sailing thus far has consisted of motoring over to the moorings to anchor down, have a barBQ, go swimming and sleep overnight. So, while that has been enjoyable, it is not the ideal. We should have our "sailing papers" in hand just after the 4th of July and then I will let you know how it goes - crossing fingers that we don't, of course, sink.
