So erm yeah.. I didn't get the job. Which really does annoy me, as I really wanted it and thought I had it. So back to the drawing board. And I really don't want to spend four months with my family on the horrid little island. As great as it is to see them, I just don't get along with them very much now. They have their lives and I have mine

Don't be silly, you were always too good for that skanky zoo anyway. If they didn't hire you then it's cause you threatened them with your greatness. They were totally jealous.
As for Uni. Hm. I think you should at some point do a PhD, you are certainly capable of it, no matter what you say! We knows you are. And you will find a job, one that pays well. It's a statistical fact that graduates earn much more than your average person. So at first you might not be earning £40,000 to allow you to live "comfortably" but you'll still be living in some comfort! I suspect you might start off at around £22,000 but this will go up over time. Even that is not exactly a SMALL wage Paulush. You can buy many things from that money.
