Help!

Suggest some song lyrics or a poem or piece of prose which talks about blocks of flats, high rises or social housing in any form. Can be romanticizing, deprecating, whatever. All Google is giving me is "Sheffield, Sex City" which despite having great lyrics, isn't really helping with the project. There must be more!

'reproduction' by the human league (especially 'blind youth' and 'the path of least resistance') and other post-punk bands from sheffield maybe. http://www.sheffieldvision.com/

j.g. ballard - high rise

I'm sure The Fall must have something. The one that springs to mind immediately is No Bulbs ('They say damp records the past - if that's so, I've got the biggest library yet') - I know that's about living in a rubbish flat, but it's not a good lyrical example. When do you need these for? I'll have a think or a look round and get back to you.

Also, does it need to explicitly mention high-rise flats or can it just be a song about them, living in them, whatever?

It can be anything that might help or give some insight towards an art project based on the shape and structure of high-rise flats, the social ideologies based around them and the lives of people living in them.

Crikey. Well, good luck with that, and if I come up with any ideas in the near future I will let you know!

"Your house was very small, with woodchip on the wall. When I came round to call, you didn't notice me at all."

D'you know, Dave Grohl collaborated with the White Stripes recently? It was for the new Foos CD I think. How about that, eh?!
