Phoenix

In Flight

The dark of night has fallen
All the world's asleep
The stars are brightly shining
Far away in the blackened deep

The winds sing as they take me
Telling me to spread my wings
Assurance that the way is safe
With all the pain drowned in my wake

The mists they lift
I float away
The beauty lies before me
Like an old familiar story

I take the chance and spread my wings
The heavens sing and the stars all gleam
This young bird thought once too weak to fly
Has now shown up to explore the sky
