more notes to self re: backstory

Childhood:
He grew up as an only child in a middle-class home with his parents happily married. The amount of broken-home Phoenixes on the comm may really weird him out if he ever ends up chatting about it. His parents are both alive and well and living in California, though not in LA any more. A few hours away by car/bus.

College:
Theater major. Pre-law isn't a formal major a lot of places, and that included Ivy. His undergraduate degree is a B.A. in Theater Studies. He started taking pre-law classes junior year, though it wasn't until senior year that he got serious about it. He was serious about theater before that, and he was pretty good. The "immature" friends he mentions are his theater troupe, who were a bit wild.

When he was dating Dahlia, the phone number she gave him at the courthouse was hers. So often when he'd call, he'd actually be talking to Dahlia, not Iris. In retrospect, he can't quite believe that he didn't notice how different she was at different times.

Circus:
  1. Bat died, without ever coming out of the coma.
  2. Acro is still incarcerated, but not on death row.
  3. Max and Regina are engaged.
  4. Regina has another tiger: Millicent, aka Millie, whose name is supposed to reflect Maximillion, because if Regina has a Max, then Regent needs a Millie.
  5. His circus outfits are suits with top hat and cape, in black and a blue slightly lighter than his court suit, but darker than game-4 Trucy.
  6. Trucy wears pink with purple accents on-stage to mirror Max.
  7. Has a driver's license with commercial cert so that he can drive the trucks/trailers too.

Other:
He has occasional recurring nightmares about Mia's death.

Nervous twitch -- left hand over his heart, hand slightly curled into a loose fist, knuckles side towards chest, thumb brushing where his badge would be if he had it.

He's still quite afraid of heights, but he gets dragged up into the rigging occasionally. He can now do so without threat of throwing up, but he still doesn't like it.

Not afraid of thunderstorms. (It can be a fun piece of fanon/semi-canon, but not this Phoenix.) Added: very afraid of tornadoes, though. Didn't ever encounter them growing up, so they're weird and freaky.

Doesn't have the cufflinks. (piece of personal Phoenix-canon that doesn't apply to him)

Did not try to contact Edgeworth between ages 9 and 20. After the Demon Prosecutor article, he tried a variety of means -- phone, letters, stalking the courthouse (hi, Dahlia), NOT email (fails at computers). But it wasn't quite the epic letter-writing story that's common fanon.

Larry and Maya are dating in his universe. This is quite possibly his fault, as they were both worried about him and spent some time actually talking.

He did get pulled into detention and interrogated after Edgeworth pulled the "choose death" stunt. (It didn't get mentioned while he was talking to phoenixcaged, but I decided this bit applied to him. He twigged as to where the questions were leading several hours in, and pretty much fell apart. He walked straight out of detention into the bar across the street, and got very, very drunk. Gumshoe finally dragged him out of it and threatened him with arrest for drunk&disorderly, and then threw him in a cab.)

The closet full of whiskey and sleeping pills in the DR that he mentioned to phoenixcaged was actually his fault, too. He was just thinking of Edgeworth at the time.
