OK, so here is an example of a day in my life the last couple months:
6:45 AM: Alarm goes off. Hit Snooze.
7:00 AM: Alarm goes off. Think about going to the gym this morning. Hit Snooze.
7:30 AM: Alarm goes off. Hit Snooze.
7:45 AM: Alarm goes off. Contemplate calling in sick.
7:50 AM: Roll out of bed. Stumble to bathroom. Dry heave in shower.

You are seriously adorable, and your OSW looks great. I never really liked that pattern too much before, but now I kind of want to knit one!
Tip for splicing bulky yarns: Unravel (like untwist the plies) an inch or 2 of each end to be spliced. Clip off half the plies on each side, and then match the long pieces up together where each long piece is even with the ends of the short pieces (like putting together those L shaped Tetris pieces, you know?). Now spit splice. No bulkiness, and the shorter plies will get felted enough to hold. You might do a little extra spit and rub at the very ends, just to make everything secure.

Thank you! I wasn't sure how much I cared for the OSW before either, but I also didn't know how a shrug would look on me and I'd never knit anything that required fitting my body in any way, so I didn't want to invest a ton of time/yarn/brain power figuring it out. This was the easiest pattern I could find and I was surprised that I liked how it turned out. Not sure I'd like it in a varigated yarn, but I like this solid version!
Ooh, thanks for the tip on the splicing! I never thought to trim any of the plies...I will definitely try that next time!

That might be too much of a pain in the ass, though...

"To achieve the additional bulk in this yarn, Karabella had to increase the number of plies from 8 (in the aptly named Aurora 8) to 14, each of which is composed of two smaller plies. That means each stitch requires 28 strands to behave properly."
I think that's why it was such a pain in the ass to knit with the pointy needles...I kept snagging on one of those 28 strands...so yeah, stair stepping might be a little ass-painy.
