Yeah, I love ECS!  I've been paying attention to the signs around me and getting to know the people who work there.  I got to know one technician and we hit it off, real nice guy! He wanted to get into security and I since I've been in security for over 2 year before, I helped him with a lot of information ( Read more... )

That sounds great! I'm so happy you found an awesome place to work. But please let me caution you about the wolf hybrids- I completely understand the appeal, but they generally aren't fit for home life. Not that they're aggressive, necessarily, but they tend to get territorial. Running away is a big problem too. They just don't have an understanding of human rules built in like dogs do. Building a successful relationship with them can be done, but it's difficult and requires a lot of sacrifice. It makes me so sad, because the wolf-dogs I've known can't live with humans and can't live in the wild. It's extremely fucked up. Just as fucked up as the mess people have made of dogs' lives as a whole. Most people don't even understand the complex emotional and physical needs that dogs have, I can't even bring myself to think about it. Even relatively well-treated dogs, sigh ( ... )

As for myself, I have the philosophy about bringing a canine into your home that I have seen work with many breeds of dogs, from the biggest and "meanest" breeds on down. One of my dearest teachers did it with his own dog, the sweetheart appropriately named "Gaia." She was a skittish feral puppy, but he and his wife loved on her every moment and made her really feel like she was part of their pack. Gaia was never separated from them for the first six months of being in the household--she even went to work with them ( ... )

Thanks for the great advice! I'm actually not a 'dog' person, I've been raised around cats my whole life!

One of the best relationships that I've ever had with a dog was our black German Shepard, 'Josh'. This was back when I was about 12 years old. I remember I Mom telling Josh before I went out, she said "Now Josh, you stay with that boy and make sure he stays out of trouble and comes home on time!" And that dog would stay right by my side, no leash, no nothing! Just a big black dog with a little kid on a bike!

But I totally agree with you about people messing with dogs and such, I never got along with those types of people. I figured that if there was any dog that I would get, it would have to be a smart one, not one that would constantly need entertainment I guess.

I would love to meet you and your companion though, I could learn a thing or too ;). Cheers!
